Working Enactively on Mathematics Tasks

We are currently working on mathematics tasks that can be simplified and solved using Bruner’s notion of enactive and iconic representations. This means we are considering mathematics tasks where the underlying structure can be seen using physical apparatus or diagrams. We have found that while diagrams can explain the structure of a task there are also times when we can only draw a diagram or work enactively after we have found a symbolic solution.
