Undergraduate mathematics and scholarship

The aim of this group is to carry out research and scholarship of relevance to the teaching of mathematics and statistics at the undergraduate level. In particular the emphasis is on the particular challenges that arise teaching mathematics statistics in distance and online contexts to students who have a diversity of backgrounds.

Examples of work undertaken by members of this group include

  • Developing online assessment systems that suit the needs of mathematics and statistics modules.
  • Exploring means to enhance the preparation of students before the formal start of their modules
  • Ways of improving support for students through tutorials, forums and online resources.
  • Understanding what motivates Associate Lecturers and other staff groups in Mathematics and Statistics
  • Enhancing the accessibility of mathematics.

Much of this work is via eSTEeM.
